    correct verbs

    1. One and a half years has/have passed.
    2. What caused the accident was/were stones on the road.
    3. What I need is/are apples.

    Which verb should I use for each of the sentences?

    one and a half have

    In 2 and 3, the extraposed nominal relative clause is the subject --> singular, irrespective of the predicate
