    Usage of 'flick'

He put his foot on the banana peel and flicked it into the gutter to his right.

Can someone please tell me if the above sentence sounds natural? Is the usage of flick fine here? Can you think of any better alternatives?

Flick is something you generally do with you hands - specifically your fingers.
Bend your index finger and place your thumb over the nail, so you cannot extend you index finger again. Place your loaded finger near the object which you want to flick (say, an insect), and remove your thumb while rapidly extending you finger. That's a flick.

What do you think would be the appropriate verb to use in my sentence?
