Start with a warm-up activity. You can talk about a tangible thing in future (like their final exam)...then ask what will happen if you don't study?! And it's a teacher's art to employ lots of examples and help students correct themselves and learn a new point.

For the 2nd type, you can talk about imaginary situations: winning a million dollar, finding a purse in the street, meeting *** (who is a very famous person) etc. Again, you might ask questions like "what would do if you found a purse in the street?" or what would you say if you met the prime minister?!

My experience? Students, generally, prefer such subjects as sports, art, and social issues...they're not interested in politics and economy!
