    bear-proof/outstanding/due/handled/entitled

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?

Visitors are also reminded to keep food and other odorous attractants stored in hard-sided vehicles or bear-proof food storage boxes.

    bear-proof = animal proof

There is an outstanding payment of &200.

outstanding = due, or owing, or payable,or pending, or unpaid, or unsettled, or uncleared ???????

The repairs were due to be made in June.

due = scheduled, or expected ??

This matter has not been handled properly.

Handle = cope with, or deal with, or tackle, or settle ???

Are you entitled to do this?

entitle = authorize, empower, depute, warrant, stand proxy for

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V

No. Written thus it would refer to bears.

    Correct.

The repairs were due to be made in June.

due = scheduled, or expected ??
    Correct.

    Correct.

Correct apart from stand proxy for; this would only apply in circumstances where more information supported that.

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,
