What does the writer want to say???

These is a paragraph that I really don't understand the link between sentences. Therefore, I can't see what the writer intend to say:

"How about putting up the price to pay for a powerful anti-smoking campaign? The sponsorship problem would disappear. Few manufacturers would want to sponsor the "Imperial Type B Snooker Championships".

Why putting up the price (of cigarettes) for a powerful anti-smoking campaign would put an end to the sponsorship? Why manufacturers refuse to sponsor such events as the "Imperial Type B Snooker Championships"?

Please help me understand these. Thank you a lot!

Can you provide more of the context?
