    Re: "Ya"

    Hi,

It depends on what context.... ya, yep, yeah, can all mean someone is saying YES informally or agreeing with something...

Do you want to go to the cinema? Ya
Would you like an ice cream? Ya

It's hot today, isn't it? Ya, yep,... etc

    OR

Do you mean "How are ya?"
In this context YA means YOU. This is a very informal way of saying you.

    "How was ya holiday?"

You would NEVER write it like this but you could hear it from native english speakers especially in Australia and New Zealand.

    Re: "Ya"

Thank you VERY much. It helped me a lot.

One more question, so if I am writing about two person having informal conversation can I use 'ya' instead of 'you'?

    Re: "Ya"

As long as the characters in your writing are speaking and you are writing their dialogue then it would be OK. But I would not use this word in any other context, only in dialogue.

"How are ya?" asked Jessy. " I haven't seen ya for a long time!"
