    theme

Please, what are the common themes in Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton, and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce?

I just want you to name (mention) them.
For example, I see that both Heart of Darkness and Ethan Frome share the themes of silence and darkness.
I can not find even one theme that the three novels share.
