    what is differece between alot and lot? can u give me more examples on these kinds of words?

    "a lot of" and "lots of" have the same meaning - both mean many.

    There are a lot of apples on the table.
    There are lots of apples on the table.

    However, by itself "LOT" means a piece of land (amongst other meanings - see thesaurus below).
    "Allot" means to give or assign something to someone or something

    (see the thesaurus entries at Lot - definition of Lot by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. and allot - definition of allot by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.
