    Usage of shopping

    1) I went for shopping last week
    2) I went shopping last week.

Can someone please tell me which of the above two sentences is correct?

#2, though you could say "I went for the shopping...." [I went to collect the items that we had purchased]

    Thanks a lot, Anglika!

Do you mean go shopping is not the same as go for the shopping? Can you please tell me the difference?
