Would you be kind enough to explain to me the difference between the following sentences.
1. To throw somebody on the scrap heap.
2. To throw somebody on to the scrap heap.
I know the meaning of the idiom “throw somebody or something on the scrap heap” namely “to get rid of someone or something not wanted and needed any more”.
In the second sentence, in my humble opinion, is speaking of a guidance on a “side-track”
What do you think about “To put somebody in a backwater” or “To turn somebody into a social outcast”?
Thank you for your efforts.
On and on to have the same meaning when the verb hase a vectorial movement meaning like throw.
