    Has vs have

Could someone help me with the proper usage + an explanation?

    Is it:

"hundreds of dollars has been spent into developing our house"

    or

"hundreds of dollar have been spent developing our house"

For some reason I think it is has, even though it may look a bit weird.

    Thanks

Nope. The second one is correct: "Hundreds of dollar have been spent developing our house."

    Explanation? Dollars are countable.
