    Smile difficult sentence

    hi
    i've found this sentence
    he slumped down on the garden
    i don't understand the "slumped down" i've found that
    slumped=to sit or fall heavily and suddenly
    to fall suddenly

    You've found the right meaning. You can slump to the ground if you collapse. Then you have no choice but to slump. However, you can choose to slump. You tend to do this when you are fed up or very tired. You lower yourself wearily to the ground or onto something. You then lie or sit there looking and feeling very listless.

    A "couch potato" sits for hours slumped in front of the TV while someone who faints slumps to the ground.
