tip the baby at a slight angle....

I am reading a book talking about how to treat baby with massage.

"tip the baby at a slight angle, with his head down. Using a small cup or something with a small rim, press in & pull out gently over the chest and back. The gentle suction helps pull mucus away from the lung so it can be coughed up. "

    What are the meaning of:

    1. tip the baby at a slight angle
    2. press in & pull out

    Tks / ju

Massaging babies with cups is not something we do often in the West.
    However, this means:
    1. "Incline the baby slightly head down" - that is, so the whole baby is inclined in a straight line with its feet slightly above its head.
    2. Put the cup on the baby's chest and apply pressure to it (press in). This forms a seal between the cup and the baby's skin. Pull the cup back up. This applies traction upon the chest wall. The alternating pressure and traction apparently loosens the mucus in the baby's lungs.
