    Prices start from $5. or Prices start at $5. These are better.

    Thanks. I was going to make that point.
    But then I thought, what about a house for auction. The price starts at $500,000.
    So, rather than being better or worse, it's really two different things.

    Yes, in an auction situation it could be as you say, although I think 'The starting price is....' would be more usual.
