    Eat Money

To eat the money of father or to eat the money of your father.

Is there such a saying in English?

    Re: Eat Money

Not exactly, though it may be understood in context, meaning waste the money, or consume the money, of a parent.

    Re: Eat Money

Much more likely to be heard is "take the bread out of your children's mouths" or possibly "waste your inheritance before you get it".

    Re: Eat Money

It means spending your father's money, not working etc.

    Sounds like the prodigal son...

Wasting your inheritance would be applicable. Rather than eating money, we usually talk about "burning" it as a metaphor for waste.

    Re: Eat Money

In AmE, we'd say that you were "sponging off of your father" or "living off of your father."

    I’m not a teacher.

    Hi Volcano1985,

Here is an link which concern the matter in question.

    sponge off: Information from Answers.com

Here is also a widened sentence depicting in glaring colors your original situation.

“I didn’t mind giving my son an occasional meal, but before I knew what had happened, he had moved in our home along with his girl-friend, and sponged on us (his parents) for over two months.”

    Regards,

    V.
