Question It's quite salient to me...

Hi! I was wondering what "salient" means in this situation. Please help!!!

A was joking to his friend, B.
B took it seriously and realized later it was a joke.
Then A said, "What an ass. It's quite salient to me that you're a credulous ass."
    B thought, 'He'd misused "salient."

No, it is fine. 'salient' here means easily recognizable, obvious.

...But I've never met "salient to". (The BNC has 6 instances though - SARA Search Results )

In the OP's case I'd expect to hear "obvious/clear/apparent to me".

The technology is particularly salient to me because it presents compelling possibilities for interaction in pervasive games.

This last blurring I mention, the one between content and advertising, is perhaps the most salient to me now because we are essentially playing the same game that the big corpo sites are playing.

    Daruma:
Examples of misuse, as found on the Web, may only prove how frequently the word is misused.

Since 'salient' incorporates the sense of 'leaps out at me", it is redundant to say, 'salient to me'.

    B thought, 'He'd misused "salient."

I'm with B: it may be obvious and striking, but in the context given, this is of no great import/relevance to A unless the whole situation was to find proof that B is an ass. Rather, it is meant as a dismissive observation.
Would one say, 'conspicuous'?? rather than 'obvious'.
