    Question vocabulary

    help me!
    in this sentence, we shoul use "despairing" or " desperate" ?is there any difference?
    "The prison was to well guarded that any thought of escape wa......"

    I wouldn't really use either because they don't work well with 'thought' here, but if you have to use one of them, use 'desperate' as people not thoughts despair.
