    Could you please tell me which one of the following sentences is correct?
    Thank you.

    (i) On the morning session of 6th August, 2009.
    (ii) In the morning session of 6th August, 2009.

    What I want to clarify is we usually say "in the morning" but "on the morning of 4th July, 2009". So, I wondered if the above rule could be applied to such phrase as "on the morning session of 4th July, 2009".

    No, but you could say "In the morning session on the 4th July".
