Question which idiom am I looking for?

I'm looking for an idiom. Where 'If you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen' means if you cant take the pressure, remove yourself from that situation - which idiom means don't get into that situation in the first place?
Like, don't dive in if the water is too hot?

    Thanks
