    refining of a few sentences

    Dear teachers,

    Would you be kind enough to look over the following sentences, as well as to refine them should the need arise?

    1.Your composition is good except for a few spelling mistakes.
    2.Everythig is settled except for for a few details.
    3.The whole kigdom, a small corner excepted, was subjected to the Turkish yoke.
    4.Except for Mercury, Venus, and probably Pluto, each of the planets has at least one datelite.
    5.Except for lion, we wouldn’t be here.
    6.I have finished the book except for a few pages.
    7.Except for this one point, there’s not much to be said in his favor.
    8.There was no one in thepark except for a few children.
    9.Except for John, the whole class passed the test
    10.The children hardly see anyone, apart from their parents.
    11.Aside from being fun and good exercise, swimming is a very useful skill.
    12.All present company excepted, of course.
    13.We must make an exception for her.
    14.This was an exception to the rule.

    I believe there are some mistypo with your statement below. I corrected it below.

    1.Your composition is good, except for a few spelling mistakes.
    2.Everything is okay, except for a few details (that need some revisions). 3.The whole kingdom, a small corner excepted, was subjected to the Turkish yoke.
    4.Except for Mercury, Venus, and probably Pluto, each of the planets has at least one satellite.
    5.Except for lion, we wouldn’t be here. (I am not clear with this sentence)
    6.I have finished reading this book, except for a few appendixes at the back.
    7.Except for this one, there’s not much can be said to his favor.
    8.There was no one in the park, buta few children.
    9.Except for John, the whole class passed the test.
    10.The children hardly see anyone apart from their parents.
    11.Aside from being fun and a good exercise, swimming is a very useful skill.
    12.All present company excepted, of course. (Not sure what this means)

    We're over one mind, Indonisian. But... in my opinion, sentence 8 is perfect, I would not change a thing, except (for) = but.
