The accident took place at ABC Square.
Can someone please tell me if the above sentence sounds natural?
Is it true that accidents happen/occur while events take place?
Thanks a lot, apex2000!
Is it because we are talking of accident here or is it because we should use in with Squares?More usual would be 'in ABC Square'.
Is it because we are talking of an/the accident here or is it because we should use 'in' with Squares?
Neither. If you think of a typical Square, then are you inside or outside the Square? You could see the accident in either case, but where is the accident? In the Square, or outside the Square (in a street leading into the Square)? On the edge of the Square? At the junction of a street and the Square?
If you consider these possibilities you should understand.
