I didin't want to fight a winter-starved bear....
I encountered a sentence above. Does "winter-starved bear" mean "a bear that didn't eat anything in winter and therefore starved when they wake up in spring?
Is this sentence in something which is actually about a bear? It could also be an idiom.
When a bear wakes up in spring, he/she will be very hungry, and bent on only one thing, finding food.
"fighting a winter-starved bear" could mean that someone doesn't want to argue or get into a discussion with someone who has a one tracked mind, or someone who is very stubborn.
I am not a teacher.
