    what does it mean?

    I don't get this:

    Q: How do you get an elephant on the subway?





    A: Take the 's' out of subway and the 'f' out of way
    .

    what am missin here?

    I am not a teacher, but I am a native speaker.

    I get it. It is just implying to "get the f#$% out of the way". It is just saying that if you are on the subway when the elephant is put in it, you will be crushed, so you get the <expletive> out of the way.

    It is a joke. At least, that is the only sense I can make of it.

    Sorry, my last post was overly compressed. The implication was:

    "How do you get an elephant onto the subway?"
    "Take the s out of sub and the f out of way."
    "There's no f in way." ["There's no f*ing way"]
    "Exactly."
