    Shall we?

    Hi,

... but we'll let that pass, shall we?

    1) In this sentence, is "we'll" a contraction for "we will" or "we shall"?

    2) If it's the contraction for "we will", I supposed that the question tag "shall we" is used only because "will we" doesn't ring well, isn't it?

    Thanks!

    It’s me again…

As I didn’t find a contraction form for “we shall” (maybe my contractions list is incomplete?), I presumed that the “we’ll”, cited in the post above, is the contraction for “we will”. I also presumed that the sentence is correct since I took it from a book written by a very good English author, that is to say, Louis de Berničres. That being said, is it of common usage to use “shall” in a question tag when the auxiliary in the sentence is “will” ? Is it a matter of style? Can both be used equally?

    Sorry for insisting...

I'd say that 'we'll' is a contraction of 'we shall' in this case. Otherwise it's a strange use of a question tag.
