    advantages of the cinema

There are many advantages of the cinema.

Is the above sentence correct in the sense that cinema benefits people in many ways? If it isn't, how should the sentence be reworded?

    Many thanks.

    Strictly, no.
There are many benefits of the cinema is better.
There are many advantages of the cinema over television.
There has to be an advantage of one thing over another. In sentences such as "There are many advantages of a good education", this implies that a good education has advantages over a bad education or no education at all.
If you have a question that reads "Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of a public transport system", for example, you're meant to compare having a public transport system to not having one.
In the sentence, There are many advantages of the cinema, no comparison with anything is implied.

Why not simply: 'The cinema has many advantages (for people).'
