    By the way, my English teacher never taught things like ' ..........., did he not?'. It was always like '........., didn't he?'

    "Did he not" is correct, but rather old-fashioned. You will never need to use this construction, but you might occasionally hear it or read it.
    I think your teacher has done the right thing by trying not to confuse you (assuming that your teacher knows about this).
