    "Could no more have .... than..."

    Can you explain for me that structure?
    For example: he could no more have denied her request than breathed underwater

    He could not have denied her request any more than he could have breathed underwater.
    It would have been as difficult for him to refuse her request as it would have been for him to breath underwater.
