Talking I "Have" - not "Do" - surely...???

Increasingly - in both real-life and scripted conversations on TV - the answer "I do" is almost invariably heard in affirmative response to questions such as:"Have you got this, that, or the other...?"

But isn't that grammatically incorrect...? Surely the correct affirmative answer to such questions should really be: "I have" - (got this, that or the other)... Not "I do"...???

Have you got that? = Do you have that?
    I do = I do have that

The affirmative answer to the question 'Have you got that?' is 'Yes I have'. The affirmative answer to 'Do you have that?' is either 'Yes I have' or 'Yes I do'.
