How to make second conditional sentence for the following situation.

He makes a lot of mistakes. He is careless.

    Which is correct ?

If he weren't careless , he wouldn't make any mistakes or If he weren't careless , he wouldn't make many mistakes.

    Thx a lot.

The number of mistakes he makes is dependent on the level of his carelessness and not the reverse.

If he were not careless, he would not make a lot of mistakes.
