Many bridges are just for pedestrians! Bridges over rivers, roads etc can be for pedestrians, traffic or both.

A bridge over a motorway, for cars, is called a flyover.

However, I would refer to a bridge just for pedestrians just as a "bridge", or a "pedestrian bridge".

A bridge over a motorway, for cars, is called a flyover.

However, I would refer to a bridge just for pedestrians just as a "bridge", or a "pedestrian bridge".

I hope you don't mind my interruption to solve a bit of confusion. In the picture is seen the people walking on it.

I'm not sure whether "for cars" in emrs2d2's post referred to the bridge or to the motorway!

Sorry, for some reason I clicked on the link after I posted my reply!! When I said "for cars" in my post, I meant a bridge which cars drive on. That's a flyover. As Rover says, this is a footbridge! Sorry for any confusion.
