Is A.D. 201 = the eleventh century after Christ? If yes/no, why?
Thanks.

No - it's the third century.
Did you mean to type 1201?

Counting the years forward from the change over from the BC period to AD (now referred to as Before the Common Era = BCE, and Common Era = CE).
all years from the year 1 to 99 would constitute the first century. So, 101 would be in the second century, and 201 in the third century.
We've just come out of the 1900's, and refer to it as the twentieth century; and in 2008, we are in the 21st century.

I'm intrigued to know why you thought 201 was the eleventh century.

Sort of... It's thought that early Biblical scholars got it wrong, and Jesus was born in the year often called A.D. 4; but you're right that the Anno in "Anno Domini" means 'in the year' - year being annus (whence "annual", "anniversary", etc.)
