Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?
This dog is dangerous; if it gets away it will bite the children.
The suspect ran down the street and got away.
Someone left the door open, and the puppy got away.
The bank robbers used a stolen car to get away.
They got away with all the money.
get away = break free, escape
As Jim was trying the bat, it got away from him and hit Tom.
Mary tried to catch a butterfly, but it got away from her.
get away = become free from being held or controlled
If Mr. Graham can get away from his store this afternoon, he will take Johnny fishing.
Can you get away for a holiday?
I couldn't get away any sooner.
get away = succeed in leaving
We got away early in the morning on the first day of our vacation.
The race got away to a fast start.
get away = to begin; start
The doctors told him to get her away from it all.
