Imagine one of the classical horrors and the scene when a hand of some zombie appeares suddenly from under the ground. How would you say that "A hand breaks through the ground" or "Appeares suddenly from the ground" or in some other way?

"A hand breaks through the ground" or "Appear[STRIKE]e[/STRIKE]s suddenly from the ground" or in some other way?
The first is fine. 'From' doesn't work in he second; I think that 'through' does.

It could "burst forth" or "emerge."
