Hi blacknomi,

Good job.
We must be good companions if we had the chance to travel somewhere. Your hands and my feet will work together to get our message crossed!

HAHAHA :-D , I think we will be good companions too , LOL and I hope to have the chance to travel with you somewhere

I do recommend BBC/Radio/Comedy and Quizzes. I know how frustrated you will be if you hear tons of canned laughter! I listened to it all the time. To be frank, I don't listen to it; I just turn it on and do my stuff in front of my PC. I do catch some of British humor. Did I say you are hilarious?

Frustrated is it same as disappointed?
you know when I listen to BBC I do same as you turn it on and do my stuff, but I will try one day to focus on listening without doing another thing.

Good luck! What program do you usually listen to? I hate news.

Actually when I've a time I just listen to news, I never try to listen for something else, but I think it's a good idea to listen for something new.

by the way, I like watching English cartoon movies and I will be happy if one of my sibling ask me to translate what they are talking about in Arabic.

Hi,
I think we are absolutely opposite. When I made presentations, I always stood still and my two hands just trembling and sweating as I was 'reciting' my presentation. My teacher told me to keep relaxed and use my hands and eyes when I presented. I know that it's very important for a presenter to make some body language and eye contact. The next time, I remembered all the things, waving my hands, using my eyes:roll: , but what I wanted to say.

Joe

Hi joe,

Yeah by the way before when I've presentations I do my job very well. In front of audience I use my hands and eye contact, but behind them I also moving my leg up and down  LOL because I'm very nervous and want to finish the presentation as soon as possible. This semester my teacher gave us some important points of doing presentations and that helped me very much. I'm also very happy that I'm relaxing now when I've to do my presentations.

Umm, well I can share with you these points of how doing good presentation, that if you like to. :)

There's no difference, but 'everyone'tends to be more used in formal language than 'everybody'. However, both are acceptable. In informal language, it doesn't matter at all. ;-)

Hi,

I am sudying English on my own country. The broplem in learning English or any other language in a non native speakers country is a real broplem as I see. We can not practice our English enough. We just meet our teachers during the classes. and some times during their office hours. This time we spend asking them to clarify some of the issues we discuss in the classes. As you can see there is no time to hold such long conversations that may cover different subjects. More than that, our friends are not English native speakers as we are all from the same country; we are all Arabic speakers. It is realy rare to find students from other countries studying English. Therefore, you can see how limited are the opportunities we have in having a good conversations that as I know will definitly improve our language skills.
Hope that what I said is worth reading, in some ways.

Hi, Latoof!

Thank you for your reply!:-D

So, is your teacher a native speaker? And what have you done to solve the problem? I don't know whether your spoken English is good or not. But as I can see, your written English is really good!

Discuss with teachers and friends on this forum, I think we can find an effective way to improve our English. If you have any experience want to share, just write it down here. It will be valuable to everyone on this forum, especially to me!;-)

Cheers,

Joe

Hi Blacknomi,

I'm not good!:-( I've just finished my tests - they're so easy that I haven't thought such situation! And I did very bad. When I saw others smile and talk happily after taking the tests, I felt very depressed! Because it's really very easy, and I could have done it well.

My neighbour is an old clever gentleman, maybe he was handsome when he was young. And he has a girlfriend and a beautiful dog (it's girl too.;-) When I want to touch her-I mean the dog, the old neighbour will shout 'don't touch! she'll bite you!') He's very kind, but he has moved out the day before yesterday. He cooked a turkey (can I use cook here? maybe I could use bake?) for us and it was my first time to eat turkey (it's really big! when I saw it at first glance, I was thinking the rest of the week I would have to eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner! But on the next morning, I just saw a lot of bones in the fridge. Maybe we can cook the soup with it! ;-) )

If my lecturer invite me for a dinner, I think I will faint on the spot! But if I could eat our answer sheets for the tests on the dinner, I would accept the invitation immediately!

Regards,

Joe

Did he have to kill that turkey? You reminds me of "Hannibal" by Thomas Harris. Eweeeeeeeeee. I would be frightened out if I had a cook as my neighbor.

Take it easy, Joe. you are doing a good job there! Stick to it!

What courses are you taking?
