It's just an error, it should be"am" not "a.m."

Probably the dangers of auto-correct and a careless editor.

Rolling news has to churn out text at an incredible rate- mistakes creep in and there's a lot of verbiage. I flicked on the news today and saw an item on the tsunami warning for Hawaii- the person talked for five minutes and said absolutely nothing. She was spouting stuff she'd heard but didn't know her subject at all. Take 24/7 news sources with a pinch of salt- they don't have the time to check their facts or their language. If it looks weird and wrong to you, it is likely to be a typo or mistake.
