Should I use the indefinite article a or not after give and why?

They give a medical treatment and assault the enemies.

Thank you.

You need no article; 'treatment' in this sense is uncountable.

Your sentence is very strange. People don't normally give medical treatment and then 'assault the enemied'.

Thank you.

The sentence is a part of a story occurred a long time ago. "They" refers to women battalion.
