Hi all,
Could anyone please give me the word which means a place or a boundary on a road in the suburbs where taxis are not allowed to pass or they normally don't pass because it's the farthest place they take passengers.

Thank you in advance

I am not aware of such a word. We don't need it here in Canada, because there is no line that taxis are forbidden to cross or choose not to cross. People occasionally hire taxis for inter-city trips of hundreds of kilometres.

There is a standing joke about London taxi drivers which suggests that there is a limit to where they will go late at night. The line, which really has to be said in a Cockney accent is "You've got to be kidding mate. I'm not going south of the river at this time of night!" I have no idea whether this has any basis in truth but even if it is, we don't have a word for the boundary. In general, in the UK, you will always be able to find a taxi driver who will take you wherever you want to go because there is a lot of money to be made out of it!
