A rather complex use of relative clause

"Philosophy is the endeavor to frame a coherent, logical, necessary system of general ideas in terms of which every element of our experience can be interpreted." [Alfred North Whitehead]

The use of relative clause here actually replaces a noun rather than describing it. I have seen this construction before, and some are harder to understand than others. The use of passive makes this sentence even more difficult to understand.

Every element of our experience can be interpreted in terms of the endeavour [attempt] to frame the coherent, logical, necessary system of general ideas that is known as philosophy.

"in terms of which" refers back to "the endeavour....ideas".
