A saying needed

Hello,

this the situation: I've just done something that made my coming somewhere worth the effort/time (irony-free or not).
I've been able to come up with "bits of English" that describe the situation pretty clearly (most of them sound too long and/or too complicated) but still, is there a saying to convey the meaning?
