I am wondering if my sentence is grammatically correct.

A white villa stood amid the grove of pine trees, its windows adorned with the boxes of flowers.

teechar,

I wish I could give you the right answer, but unfortunately, I am not sure if I can. I believed it should be "the" because of "of flowers", but now understand the article is unnecessary because the boxes are not specific.

It's not just unnecessary. It's wrong unless, as usual, these boxes have already been mentioned.

The same goes for grove. Unless a previous sentence set the scene in a pasture interrupted by patches of pine trees, the definite article before it is wrong.
