Dear Teacher,

I am looking for a word / an expression. It is a fixed prelude or an elementary introduction for a radio programme.

For example, Beep, beep...( Music) This is BBC Worldwide Service.

What do you call "prelude" in English? Thank you!

Anglika, thanks for your reply. :)

"Announcement" seems too formal.

Maybe I didn't make my question clear enough.

For instance ".....(fixed music for a few seconds)... Welcome to Faith Radio Online-Simply to Relax, I’m Faith....

What do you call the " fixed music" slot in English for a radio programme? If you have any idea, let me know. Thank you. :)

Thanks for your reply. :) But " the theme music" might be in the middle of a programme, isn't it? I referred to the elementary introduction only.

True - but you can have introductory theme music too. Or the opening theme.
