about "help"

"it helped build students' skills and self-esteem."

what i want to ask is ,after the word "help" ...is that no infinitive(to) should be followed ???

or ,u can tell me the correct pattern of the usage of "help" in this kind of expression ?

'Help' is a verb that can have more than one form after it, as Francois said. The exam trick is 'can't help', which is followed only by a gerund. ;-)
