I encountered a friend the other day, who is a English major. She told me that

her US teacher said,'it's useless to learn oral English from English movies,

because the language used in movies is not exactly the language native speakers

use in their daily life'. I can't remember the exact words, but it's pretty

much of it. It surprised me a lot. You know, I've been trying to learn

something in moives for the past several months.

What do you think? :)

I think in depends on what kind of movies you watch. For example, The Terminator isn't likely to be very helpful.

If you watch movies set in the present I think that can be helpful. People in contemporary movies do indeed speak everyday language. I think you can get a sense of the flow and rhythm of natural speech by watching movies.

Perhaps others will also have opinions on that.
