Active voice? One space or two?

Please help. I am QA'ing some computer documentation. I have written,
"Click the xxxx button. The xxxx (next screen name) is displayed. I have been told that it must be written in the active voice and therefore should be written as, "Click the Back button. The SAP Easy Access screen displays."
This goes against everything I ever learnt. Is this correct?

Also, I have been told that there are ALWAYS two spaces between a full stop and the start of a new sentence. I was always taught just one space. Which is correct?

1- "The xxxx (next screen name) is displayed" is more used and more accurate.


2-People differ on the how many spaces should be after a fullstop. At any rate, I worked for a reputable international company once and they instructed me to always maintain two spaces after the fullstop. I think this is better indeed.
