I'm confused. You took the sentence directly from the link in which the meaning of "adjust" is given. How can you not understand it?

Now I suppose I understand it. Actually it is very simple. It seems his tie was not in correct position so he adjusted it. Can we say he corrected his tie or
he smoothed his tie?
