I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

After almost a year of waiting, Bob received a transplanted kidney. This was his third transplantation because the two previous kidneys had failed already after a few months.

Bob would receive (or, more precisely, undergo) a kidney transplant.

Already doesn't work in the second sentence.

After waiting (for) almost a year, Bob underwent/had his third kidney transplant. The previous kidneys (he'd received) failed within a few months of being transplanted.
