I am wondering if my sentence sounds natural. I feel there is a mistake somewhere, but I can't find it. Would you please correct my mistakes?

After getting promoted, married, and buying his house, John thought he had never had it so good.

Married is stranded there, connecting with neither the preceding nor the following phrase. Say either getting promoted, getting married, and buying a house or getting promoted, marrying,
and buying a house.

There are no mistakes, but consider the following suggestion.
After [STRIKE]getting[/STRIKE] being promoted, getting married, and buying his house, John thought he'd [STRIKE]had[/STRIKE] never had it so good.
