I am wondering if my sentence are grammatically correct.

After heavy rain, the afternoon sun broke through the grey sky, causing the pools of water and the road shimmer like mirrors. Children ran out of their homes and splashed about in the pools screaming with delight.

You need "... to shimmer"; and put a comma after the second "pools".

Are you talking about pools of water in the road or the swimming pools?
