Would you please correct the mistakes in my sentence? Is it correct to say "frozen" for people who died in cold?

After weeks of looking for the mountaineers, a search party finally found them frozen, holding hands together, the rictus of death on their young faces.

Wow, rictus of death! I think that sounds great. Nice imagery. Are you sure their faces still look young, though?

Yes, it's fine to say frozen.

jutfrank,

I heard a journalist using the word "rictus" on the radio, and I immediately searched for that word on the Internet and made my own sentence just to see if it functions well. I imagined the mountaineers to be young and inexperienced and paid the ultimate price for it. As they were frozen, they faces still remained young.
