Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

At a joint forum in Xian, part of Chancellor Angela Merkel's diplomatic visit, both sides aired grievances on bilateral trade.

air = make public/ broadcast over the airwaves, as in radio or television

Thanks for your efforts.

Regards,

V.

When you air your grievances, you discuss your grievances publicly. In other words, you tell people that you have been treated unfairly.

Here is an impressive arsenal of tempting synonyms of the word in question appropriate for a more exquisite manner of expression.

air = broadcast, communicate, declare, express, make known, make public, reveal, utter, voice

V.
